'Firefly' to become movie

Well, it looks like Universal has bought the rights to "Firefly" and intend to make a theatrical release of the short lived series. I didn't like "Firefly" as the suits at FOX wanted it to be. It was too hoaky with their ridiculous over use of western themes and fake cowboy drawls. I couldn't help but think: "so man goes into space and becomes a bunch of red neck hicks".

Now Joss Whedon's original pilot, when it finally aired, was far superior and mature than the amateurish series that aired under FOX's "supervision". The western theme was there, but wasn't constantly thrown in your face and used to beat the viewers over the head.

So, I guess we'll wait and see what happens.
